Hockey Area
The State Netball Hockey Centre is home to two international standard “wet” hockey pitches providing the very best and fast surface for hockey events. The pitches can also be used for other outdoor activities such as lacrosse, football, soccer and cricket training.

Previously the hockey area has accommodated the following events:

> Melbourne 2002 World Masters Games – Hockey
> Four Nations Tournament - Hockey
> Oceania Cup - Hockey
> Australia vs China (Women - Hockeyroos)
> Australia vs Spain (Men - Kookaburras)
> Australian National Lacrosse Championships
Grandstands overlook both pitches with the capacity for 1000 spectators on pitch one and 250 spectators on pitch two providing comfort to spectators viewing matches. Grassed seating areas surrounding the pitch are also accessible on the ground level.

Kiosk and public amenities on level one allow for convenience and easy access of spectators.
Ground level facilities include team changing rooms, umpire changing rooms, medical room, tournament director’s office, meeting rooms and ball person’s room to ensure adequate space when hosting large events. The media box on level two and adjustable lighting levels allows for broadcasting options at major events.
The Hockey Olympians room located on level two provides and opportunity to host VIP/guest functions with catering and bar facilities. Private seating gives guest’s exclusive access to this area accessible from the function room.
The bar located on level one allows spectators to get an elevated view on activities taking place on pitch one providing comfort for them indoors whilst also having access to the bar.
Outdoor Netball Courts

Four permanent outdoor netball courts are located adjacent to the indoor main stadium and secondary hall. Its rebound ace surface offers a faster playing surface with lower impact on joints being safer for all users. This outdoor area can be used can be used for a variety of different activities not limited to netball. This space can be used as a warm up area and for marshalling of events in the indoor halls.
An undercover viewing balcony allows spectators to get an elevated view of the activities taking place on court. Score bench and timekeeping area is also under cover to provide shelter from bad wether when coordinating games and activities.
Close access to drinking fountain and indoor amenities provides comfort and satisfaction for all users. |
