Since its opening in January 2001, the State Netball Hockey Centre has worked hard to achieve a reputation as one of the premier venues in not only Melbourne, but Australia, as a flexible and versatile space for hosting all forms of events.

SNHC is frequently hosting National and International sporting events, but is building a strong reputation as a venue for more mainstream events, such as large conferences, concerts, and functions.

The State Netball Hockey Centre is the home of the Melbourne Phoenix and Melbourne Kestrels Commonwealth Bank Trophy teams, as well as transforming into 'The Cage' as the home of the Melbourne Tigers Basketball Club.

The State Netball Hockey Centre has hosted countless events in only the few years in which it has been open. These events have ranged from small State level competitions, interstate competitions, through to large National and International events, including the Hockey Four Nations tournamant, and the World Masters, not forgetting the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

In addition to the mainstream Netball and Hockey events that the State Netball Hockey Centre has hosted over the years. The State Netball Hockey Centre has also played host to a wide variety of competitions and events. These range from Victorian Gymnastic Championships to the Australian Lacrosse Championships to the Australian Schools Volleyball Competition, while not forgetting headline events such as boxing with Danny Green vs Paul Murdoch, and the annual Melbourne Tigers Dinner, Dance, and Auction, which turns the Main Stadium floor into a huge ballroom with a stage, dancefloor, auction tables, and seating for over 700 guests.
